Test Your Discernment with 5 Simple Questions
QUESTIONS:
1.) Fill in the blank: "And _________, when they saw him [Jesus Christ], fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God." Mark 3:11
2.) Who did the following: "But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him". Mark 5:6
3.) Who said the following: "... I know thee [Jesus Christ] who thou art; the Holy one of God." Luke 4:33-35
4.) Who said the following: "... Thou [Jesus] art Christ the Son of God ..." Luke 4:41
5.) Who said the following:"... These men [Paul & Silas] are the servants of the most high God, which show us the way unto salvation." Acts 16:16-19
This may come as a great surprise to many, but those who said or did the things mentioned in the above Scriptures were neither godly nor Christian. This just goes to show that the Devil and his servants are MUCH MORE deceptive (tricky) than most Christians are willing to admit, and even many times TELL THE TRUTH!
ANSWERS:
1.) unclean spirits (i.e. devils).
2.) A man possessed with at least a thousand devils. (Read about the historical account of "Legion" recorded in Matt. 8:28-37, Mark 5:1-20 & Luke 8:26-39.)
3.) A man possessed with the spirit of an unclean devil.
4.) Many people who were possessed with devils.
5.) A woman possessed with a spirit of divination.

Like the Most High
God's written word, the King James Bible, tells us that it's the Devil's desire to be LIKE God; to be "like the most High" (see Isa. 14:12-14). What this means is that if you were to identify the primary places controlled by Satan, you will always be pointing to places which appear "godly" or "Christian", and which appear to be doing work "for the Lord". Why? Because when the Devil said he wanted to be "like the most High", he was not saying that he wanted to be the OPPOSITE of God, but that he wanted to be a REPLACEMENT or SUBSTITUTE for God (read 2 Thess. 2:3-4). It is for this reason that much of what is today identified as "Satanism" (Anton LeVay, The Church of Satan, Marilyn Manson, Alister Crowley etc.) is simply the Devil's decoy designed to point away from his most subtle and deceptive works. When Satan wants to deceive, he appears as an angel of light (not darkness), even though he is not an angel. When Satan wants to deceive, he sends out his ministers of righteousness (not unrighteousness), even though these men were never called of God (see 2 Cor. 11:13-15). In other words, Satan has "ministers" which DO THE RIGHT THING (Did you get that?). The major stumbling block to Christian discernment is the inability to recognize "goodness and righteousness" as possibly being of the Devil. This IS HOW Satan can present "Jesus" (a man who does right) and still not be presenting the truth. True Satanism, in its purest form, will hold up before the world a Jesus, but it will not be the Lord Jesus Christ of the Scriptures. The Devil promotes "another Jesus", presented through "another gospel", which transmits "another spirit". The apostle Paul was concerned that many would be deceived by this very thing (see 2 Cor. 11:4). Contrary to much popular thought and teaching, Satan is not trying to distance himself from God, but quite the opposite. Satan wants to get as close to God as he possibly can without being detected. When this is done he can deceive you into believing that when you're looking at "God", you're actually looking at the DEVIL! Satan achieves this goal through COUNTERFEITING the truths of God. Not only does the Devil many times produce ONE counterfeit of the truth, but MULTIPLE counterfeits of the truth (see 1 John 2:18 for an example of this).

About the Chart Below
The column on the left shows the things of God while the right column lists the subtly crafted imitation designed by Satan to deceive those who, like Eve, choose to ignore God's words and instead rely upon their flesh and OUTWARD appearances as a means of spiritual discernment (see Gen. 2:17 & 3:6). "...Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men." Matthew 16:23
